What is a waterjet?

Waterjets are a type of cutting machinery that utilizes a highly pressurized stream of water for the purpose of clean, precise cutting of a wide range of materials. Within the waterjets industry, there are two main types of waterjet equipment: abrasive waterjets and pure or water-only waterjets. Abrasive waterjets use an abrasive agent in addition to the pressurized water stream when cutting various materials. Pure waterjets or water-only cutting equipment only use water to cut through materials, without the use of an added abrasive. Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process which does not generate heat like its competitors, laser and plasma. Waterjet cutting technology is also extensively applicable across a variety of industries.
