Is a waterjet safe to use?

Most operators who have used waterjet equipment agree that waterjets are extremely safe and agile. Though waterjets do employ a highly pressurized stream of water travelling at thousands of miles per hour, there are no rotating parts within its body; waterjet streams pass through a stationary nozzle.

Waterjet technology has advanced to include numerous safety features, including an automatic turn-off mechanism capable of sensing pressure leaks or pump bursts. Waterjets may also be retrofitted to include additional safety features such as laser beam safety curtains which serve to power down the machinery if cutting strays outside of preset boundaries.
