What else should I know about using a waterjet as a glass cutting tool?

When using a waterjet as a glass cutting tool, the glass material should be evenly supported on its bottom side, so that the abrasive-added waterstream does not bounce back into the underside of the glass. Additionally, timing of the contact between abrasive and the glass material is crucial to a clean cut and uncracked glass. The waterjet glass cutting tool should be timed so that the water stream does not come in contact with the glass before the abrasive agent is applied. This can be done using a overlaying sacrificial material on top of the glass, which allows the water stream to make contact with a non-glass layer while awaiting the addition of the abrasive agent.
